Simple... biggest trout wins a boat and motor. If your going to fish the trout opener this year this is a $20 Big Fish contest you won't want to miss!

With the impressive list of sponsor prizes capped by the grand prize of a Gregor CXW-45L aluminum boat backed by a Mercury 9.9hp motor, this is one massive event you don’t want to miss out on – especially if you are already planning to fish the Sierra’s opening weekend, April 30 and May 1.

APRIL 30 - MAY 1, 2016

Anticipation continues to steadily build for the first-ever 395 Big Fish Sierra Trout Opener, the largest and most expansive fishing derby to hit the Sierra opening weekend in the long, tradition-filled history of the event. As the calendar gets set to turn to March, there are already troves of great prizes up for grabs for the two-day Sierra-wide tourney, which will span the Highway 395 corridor from Lone Pine all the way to just north of Bridgeport. With four weigh-in stations across the Sierra (Bishop, Mammoth, June Loop and Bridgeport), this trout derby truly encompasses the entire region.

One thing’s for certain. Landing one of the largest five trout over the opening weekend will pay huge dividends. Up for the taking are some terrific prizes along with the grand-prize Gregor, including a Sea Eagle inflatable Stealth Stalker STS10 Frameless Fishing Boat (2nd place), massive $500 lure packages from top sponsors Rapala, Panther Martin, Rooster Tail and Thomas Buoyant (2nd through 5th place), a pair of vacation packages from Bridgeport Vacation Trailer Rentals and Adventure in Camping, $125 gift cards from Sierra Slammers and most recently added, Flambeau sock and glove kits, with much more to come.

The event costs just $20 per individual entry, and just $40 for a family of up to four people (must live at same address to qualify), making the derby one of the most value-laden fishing contests around anywhere. So if you’re planning on making it up to the mountains for the Sierra general season opener, or at least considering it, this is one prize-packed event you surely don’t want to miss.
