Teams Reelaxe and Rehab and C-Bandit top Bisbee's
CABO SAN LUCAS -- After three days, Team Rehab took the points title, Reelaxe nailed down the biggest fish, and several teams shared the $2 million pot at the 30th annual Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament that finished Friday, with just the awards to be held tonight. The following are the unofficial results as posted by Bisbee's website. Biggest fish was the 599-pound black by Reelaxe, with Rehab landing two fish, a 560 and 347 to win the points title.
Big money winners for the lucrative payouts over three days were Dream Weaver's $411,655, C-Bandit's $564,000, Tiger Spirit's $264,000, Rehab's $203,000 and Reelaxe's $55,505, Full amounts will be posted soon. See below for the unofficial release category money and the optional money payouts.
While there were many spectacular catches, there is no doubt that the 2010 tourney will be remembered where the big one missed the deadline. To be sure, the Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament breaks hearts or fills
bank accounts, and in its 30th year, nothing has changed.
An 800 pound black was caught by Team Great Escape, a Cabo yacht sportfisher the
first day, hooked at 3 p.m. 20 miles north of Cabo, died down deep, and
was not able to be brought up and boated until 8 p.m. The team raced
back, but the team was a mere nine minutes late getting back to the
Puerto Paraiso Mall weigh station and a huge crowd. Thus, the team lost a
sure $430,000, and a possible $1 million payday had the fish ended up
the largest of the tourney, which would been a sure thing.
Because
the tournament is run on IGFA rules, only one angler, in this Texan
Carl Riley, can fight the fish. Five hours of pulling on a dead fish
against the current was brutally hard. He did it, just not quickly
enough.
