A halibut story

Halibut, continued ....
It might just be one of the best winter halibut seasons in years, as the flatties have been biting up and down the coast for those focusing on them.

There's been a surprising amount of 40-plus-pound fish caught off San Diego--WON freelancer Greg Trompas has a pair of 40s and a handful of 30s this winter--and the shot at getting a 40 has been a real one on the sportboats.

Here's the most recent one: a 43.1 pound trophy for Dana Wharf regular Peggy Stein. Showing off the fish that put her in the 40-pound club is Clemente skipper Cory Lieser.
