BEN HUESO BLASTS RICHARDS WITH RESIGNATION DEMAND LETTER

Earlier today Paola Avila, spokeswoman for California state assemblyman Ben Hueso, D-San Diego, told the San Diego Union-Tribune that she had nothing to report regarding action contemplated against Fish and Game Commission president Dan Richards. Nothing would likely be done or announced "for a couple weeks."
A letter obtained by WON at 3:30 pm puts the lie to that claim. The demand for Richards' resignation is signed by 40 members of the assembly, one short of a bare majority. It's been in the works for a while.
In a subsequent email to WON, Avila claimed she told the U-T that she would "send (him) an email as soon as there was something to report. We wanted to give commissioner Richards the letter before we released it to the media as it would not be right for him to learn of it from another source."
The Hueso resignation demand letter reads in part, "Your actions have raised serious questions about whether you respect the laws of the people of California and whether you are adequately fit to enforce those laws. Your actions... show a lack of judgment and a disregard for how such action would be perceived by California citizens, many of whom find such actions offensive."
Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, a candidate for the new, north-coast sportsman rich US Congressional district two and the first to go on record with a call for Richards to resign, is a signatory.
