Catalina report

Catalina bound
So today I am headed over to Catalina on the Options

The trip is another WON Charter, and hopefully we'll run into some seabass or yellowtail over the two days at the island. I talked to Options skipper Wes Flesch Tuesday night after they got back from Catalina to do some scouting for our trip.

No real signs of squid, no water over 60 degrees, no calico bass even, are the CliffsNotes. Do I have great expectations of the trip or an "everyday is different" or "tomorrow could be the day" outlook? No, not really. The island looks to be a few weeks away from getting in shape. A few weeks with okay weather, that is.

The water has been chilly and Catalina and all the islands have really taken a pummeling the past few weeks. But we are going nonetheless. This will be my last overnight trip until after our son is born, so might as well make the most of it and get the images I need for a new saltwater supplement called SoCal Tips and Tactics that is set to run in WON the second week of May.

I'll report back Thursday night.
