SEABASS LIMITS

Barracuda coming?

CAT SEABASS
Limits, limits and home for three days before getting back out there. That’s how it is for Options skipper Wes Flesch.

They had limits on Sunday—see the picture in yesterdays blog—to go with this catch for limits, with the kicker being a 41 pounder for Mike Ross (far left).

I talked to Flesch Monday night. He said squid hasn’t been an issue for them. In fact, they had two scoops left over from Sunday so they didn’t even mess around with making bait for the Monday trip.

No one rig has been out producing the other. It’s just classic seabass fishing on the lower end of the water column. Slider, leadhead, dropper loop—it’s all working.

The squid is the smaller stuff, Flesh added, so putting two on a hook has been the way to go.

Seabass season is here and the weather forecast looks great. Go get some! Where? Catalina? Where at Catalina? Wherever the conditions look good along the backside. It's been all shallow water fishing, the type of stuff where the shifting conditions determine where to set up and put the casts.
