| Word is that some barracuda are starting to show up off Huntington Beach, and the Freelance picked up a few 'cuda at Catalina earlier in the week.
A true spring bread-and-butter fish, it's barracuda and sand bass that we need for the masses. Mother's Day and barracuda have gone together like clockwork the past few seasons, so hopefully the local sportboat season gets some legs to it and takes off this weekend. Conditions certainly look good, both inshore and offshore.
Nobody has been looking around offshore, but water in the mid 60s already has the picture looking pretty alright. At least it's looking about 1,000,000 better than last year, conditions wise.
The next few weeks should be interesting ones. As could this weekend. Get out there and enjoy it.
