| I've been really fortune in that I've got to experience a lot of life (and death of fish) in my 32 years.
The 50- to 70-plus-day stretches on sportboats, the college life at UCSB, traveling around the world on a one directional ticket, meeting my incredible wife on a plane flight to South Africa and watching our first child born are highlights, with the birth of Noah being the heaviest with no comparison. He's only nine days old and he's changed my life in so many ways. All I could think about is how I can't wait to take him seabassin' after school when the time is right after getting in this great day with life-long friend Wes Flesch on my skiff with no other boats around ... and how all it takes for homesickness to set in is to be away from him.
Fishing is all about days on the water, not really age, and in mine I've seen some incredible bites and fish. I'm going to put this one in the top ten all time, and the best seabass bite pre June 15 thanks to the grade.
The word is out, but look for more words from me tomorrow. I'm in the office for Memorial Day, but just the location of the bite was enough to keep in mind that a lot of men have paid the ultimate price for our freedoms.
These fish are in memory of my grandfather, who fought in World War II and brings teary eyes and great fishing memories every time I think of him.
