| This will go down as the weekend that brought limit-style yellowtail fishing offshore for 1.5-day trips, and the first bluefin score of the season within 1.5-day range (36 bluefin to go with limits of yellowtail on the Royal Star) on the first day of a 2.5-day trip. Yes, the offshore season is getting its legs.
Inshore there are finally a bunch of barracuda for the San Diego half-day boats to works with, and it's bass and barracuda all the way up the coast in the counts (including signs of the summer sand bass spawn that the fleet needs). The whole Hueneme/Deep Hole white seabass bite finally showed it's mortal, although Shawn Steward on the Aloha Spirit snuck in one-day limits yesterday and 12 white seabass and a 50-pound yellowtail somewhere on the beach today. He's the top dog in the seabass scores this year.
Look for some impressive pics tomorrow.
