Break from blogging

As local as dorado get
Yesterday's blog had Joey Helgren of the Oceanside landing that bears his last name saying that one the landing's boats saw dorado in the shallow water off Box Canyon (that's between Oceanside and Dana Point, roughly the same zone that hosted the Checkpoint seabass bites this spring and summer.)

Anyone who thought "yeah, right" should take a look at this small-grade dorado that Jay Goldstein caught on the Dana Pride out of Dana Wharf Sportfishing on today's 3/4-day trip. Look at the top right. Yes, that's the top Dome at San Onofre. Dorado, 50 feet of water on the kelp line... yes, things have gone tropical.

Funny you mention Helgren's. I was just thinking today, that O-side might be a low profile, less crowded spot to fish, with the benefit of not being limited to 2 fish like on the SD 3/4 boats. Tight lines Brandon!
