On offshore fishing...

What's going on?
So there are kelps as close as 3 miles from Oceanside packing dorado and a few yellows? Any kelp has massive potential offshore, but still closer to shore than we have seen in years? There's BFT out west, off the pens and scattered around within one-day range? A few fatso albacore? A beach scene that still has squid and coastal tankers to go with the yellowtail and big halibut that have been in the bait grounds bites since May when it kicked off outside Patterson's Kelp off Camp Pendleton. Islands going largely ignored, with the Channel Islands getting back with the seabass program for the Mirage?

I've been way out of the loop (time with family in Germany, a wedding, 31 mini bratwurst and few beers) but I've still been trying to keep in touch with what's going on. Sounds like this is the season that everyone was praying for, at least offshore wise, and then some.

All I know is that the last flight is boarding and there is a Sam Adams IPA to finish (Latitude 48 is a real sleeper for any IPS lovers out there).

Doing the one man launch and getting in an afternoon of looking around along the coast is sounding pretty fun for tomorrow. Dorado and yellows and seabass and halibut in the same day?

2012 is pretty alright....
