Second and final day of the Lake Mead TOC underway
It was another gorgeous morning for anglers blasting off for the second and final day of the WON BASS Lake Mead TOC, as Mother Nature once again blessed the field with mild air temps and a bit more cloud cover than the previous day.

The clouds seemed to increase a bit throughout the morning, but how that will impact the bite remains to be seen. One thing’s for sure, however… it’s certainly keeping the heat at bay.
Going into today’s competition, the top five teams (in order from first thru fifth) are as follows: Harry Jioras and Todd Macentosh, Shaun Bailey and Billy Skinner, Aaron Leon and Tim Klinger, Robert Jenks and Bill Lansford, and Paul Leader and Richard Welch.
Will the leaderboard look the same come weigh-in time at 2 p.m.? That remains to be seen…
Plenty of
fish on tap for day one of the southern TOC at Lake Mead
Day One Report:
The first day of the southern Tournament of Champions at
Lake Mead is officially over, and although there weren’t any true “trophy”
largemouth caught today, there were plenty of fish brought to the scales. 
BIG FISH
ON DAY ONE was this 3.27-pound largemouth landed by the team of Greg
and Dean Yamagata.
One of the
very first bags of the day actually ended up being the best, as Harry Jioras
and Todd Macentosh brought 5 fish to the weigh station for a grand total of
11.73 pounds. There were only two more bags in the double-range — a 10.77-pound,
5-fish limit belonging to none other than Shaun Bailey and Billy Skinner (no
strangers to success on Mead), and 10.54 pounds for Aaron Leon and Tim Klinger.
Rounding out the day-one top five were Robert Jenks and Bill Lansford with 9.66
pounds, and Paul Leader and Richard Welch’s 9.51 pounds.
A significant
percentage of the field had bags in the 7 to 9 ½-pound range, with the
remaining anglers hovering around 5 or 6. Big-bass honors for the day went to
the team of Greg and Dean Yamagata and their 3.27-pound largemouth.
As everyone
knows, however, this is Lake Mead, so
having a solid bag of fish on day one means little unless you can duplicate the
achievement on day two. That said, let’s see what happens tomorrow...

Sat Morning Report:
This morning, Saturday, Sept. 22, marked the kickoff of the highly-anticipated WON BASS Lake Mead TOC, a tournament which pits all of the top-finishing south teams (by invite only) against one another.

And conditions couldn’t have been better for the event, as anglers were greeted with air temps in the 75-degree range and a slight breeze which subsided soon after the 6 a.m. launch.
There are a number of familiar faces at the tournament, such as Bailey, Hawk and Bozarth (all of whom fared well at the recent U.S. Open), however, Mead is arguably one of those fisheries where any tournament is up for grabs.
