Offshore 'flow'

In between catching nothing a few nights ago on my skiff that cool, dry, smokey-smelling canyon breeze kicked in and the stern went out to sea for the first time in however many nights this season. There was no current (yeah, that has to be why there were no fish caught) so the out-to-sea swing came from the return of some offshore breeze. 

In the fall and especially early winter the offshores blow through the canyons in the dark and through the grey, often becoming the bane of a skiff fisherman's existence. After all, it's tough to set up on spots when you can't really set up with the current because the wind is more powerful. 

Offshores make it tough locally, but they are what offshore anglers dream of. There's nothing like Santa Anas on the beach and being way out west. 

It's been a windy season; but not this week, not to end the season, hopefully. 

WX is shorthand about how most talk about weather in their notes. This week's forecast looks insane, especially Thursday.
