CA Open Day 1

Day 2 results
Breazeale remains  atop  board with  48.97.

CLEARLAKE -- For the second consecutive day, the scales of the WON BASSS 2017 California Open closed Thursday with the reigning champion in the lead. Wayne Breazeale of Kelseyville, Calif sits atop the pro leaderboard with a total of 48.97.

With the help of his 7.25 big bass, Miles Howe from San Juan Capistrano, Calif. whittled away at Breazeale’s gap over the field and moved up one spot into 2nd place with a two-day total of 45.91.

On the AAA side, James Bunker of Martinez, Calif. continued his hold on the top spot with 43.30.

Another NorCal angler Bill Hart from Lincoln made a move from 20th place to 2nd. Hart added 21.52 to his Day One weight, which included his first day’s 9.17 big bass. He sits just behind Bunker with 38.37.

The quantity of bites seemed to soar today, with many reporting 30-plus keepers over the course of the day. Many experienced some pick up in the afternoon; but most felt there was a mid-day lull.

Although the fish catches were plentiful, the class size of bass boated decreased. The overall average weights seemed lower with no double-digits or nine-pounders brought in as they were on the first day.

The anglers are expected to experience similar lower weather temps in the mid-70’s with some cloud cover for the final day of competition.

Join the event for the Day Three weigh-in. Scales open at 2 p.m. at the Konocti Vista Casino. The 2017 WON Bass California Open champion will be crowned.

WAYNE Breazeale holds on to lead for 2nd day of the 2017 California Open with 48.97.

AAA JAMES Bunker remains in the top spot with 43.30.
