Time to fish hard, party harder

Bisbee's title, $2.8 million won by Chinito Bonito
510-pound black wins the Black & Blue title and $3 million

CABO SAN LUCAS -- The third and final day of the Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament saw a 510-pound black marlin brought in by boat  owner and team captain Charlie Lee his California-based team of Chinito Bonito to claim the   tourney title and a cool $3,004,900 on Friday.  Lee has won money before in the Bisbee's, but that payout was just over $7,000.

The awards ceremony for the 114-boat event  was held Saturday night, on the cruise ship pier in Cabo. Weather was tough the first day due to  remnants of Hurricane Willa far to the south, but it calmed down each day and by the final day it was flat calm.

The full payout of the tourney was officially $3,693,625 , second highest total in the tourney's history behind 2016's payout of $4,165,960. As for the other big winners, a 395-pound black marlin the first day by angler Max Briggs for Team 4 Yahoos on the boat Reelin'&Dealin' won $544,250  for the team.

Those two teams took the bulk of the money. The big payout came for the across-the-board Chinito Bonito team because no qualifying marlin over 300 pounds was weighed the second day and all optional money rolled forward into the third day.

It took Lee and the Chinito Bonito Team 1 hour, 37 minutes to boat the marlin. After landing the giant black, they headed back to the weigh-in station where their prize catch was confirmed as team members celebrated.
