The 8th annual WON BASS California Open sponsored by Bass Cat Boats and Mercury Motors is coming, April 8-10, 2020 at Konocti Vista Casino in Lakeport, Calif. The Cal Open is essentially California's very own U.S. Open, but at a lake that can produce three times the daily weight that Lake Mead can on any given day. The event features a 110-percent payout event with a brand new 2020 Bass Cat Sabre FTD paired with a Mercury 175 ProXS, all worth a cool $42K plus $15K in cash for the first place pro.

The Cal Open has found it's home in April for 2019 and beyond, with intentions of putting the event on at the perfect time of year at Clear Lake. The April dates will most likely find the fish in pre-spawn mode, moving up from their deeper hiding spots to begin looking for nesting areas to attract the big girls that are all too plentiful at Clear Lake such as they did at the 2019 Cal Open. The entry form and payouts are based on 100 boats, which should not be a problem to reach with such a great event at such a great bass lake, and even better sponsors supporting the tournament and its anglers.

The 2020 event will NOT have an “OFF LIMITS” period prior to the event. There will be a 4-day "Official Practice" period, which starts April 4th and runs through April 7th until noon. All anglers must follow the official tournament rules during official practice period. Only registered anglers may fish during the official practice period. April 7th will a be off-limits after 12:00 noon to facilitate the registration and partner pairings meetings and for anglers to take advantage of BCB "Test Rides." After the partner pairings meeting on April 7th, the tournament will begin the following day and run April 8th through the final Day Three weigh-ins on April 10th.

This event utilizes a shared-weight format and you must register with a deposit or full payment by April 3rd to enter. The Yo-Zuri "Early Bird" registration deadline is set for January 31st. There will be 4 AAA anglers and 4 pros drawn as winners for $250 Yo-Zuri gift cards at the partner pairings meeting, so don’t wait to get signed up and lock up your entry today!

Call tournament director Billy Egan at (949) 366-0248 for more information or to register for the event.
