AVALON The popular Western Outdoor News Catalina Island Jackpot will return to the island Friday, June 7th to Sunday, June 9th.  You may sign up online now or with CASH ONLY at registration Friday June 7th between 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the pier at Two Harbors.

The event will be based out of Isthmus Cove at Two Harbors on Catalina Island, and tournament waters will be limited to the 2 mile zone surrounding Catalina only. 

The entry fee will be $400 for a minimum of two but up to four anglers, and no more than four people can be aboard any boat entered in the tournament.

The format for the competition is the top three largest fish are in the money.

The eligible species in the tournament are white seabass, yellowtail and halibut and there will also be optional $100, $200 and $300 cash jackpots available for all three.  We may add additional options for each species.

Great sponsors like The Catalina Island Company and many others will be involved. More details to follow.

• Teams are responsible for knowing the schedule and all rules.

• The team entry fee is $400 with a minimum of two and up to four anglers per team.  Teams entering just the basic entry may weigh one big fish.

• No more than four passengers are allowed on any participating boat.

• All team members must check in, on the pier at the Isthmus at Two Harbors from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 7th.

• Teams with white seabass, yellowtail or halibut on their boats prior to the tournament must notify tournament staff and those fish will have their fins clipped. The team will be disqualified if those fish are discovered without notifying tournament staff.

• Boats will be released to fish at approximately 6:00 AM. Saturday. All boats must depart from the Isthmus at Two Harbors to start the tournament.

• Prior to blast off, tournament boats will need to parade single file past the starboard side of our start boat at the mouth of the Isthmus. Boats will need to display their official team number and then stage up behind the start boat. All boats will then be released with a flare gun start. TEAMS THAT DO NOT CHECK IN WITH THE START BOAT DISPLAYING THEIR NUMBERS ARE NOT ENTERED IN THE TOURNAMENT.

• Boats seen leaving early will be disqualified.

• Tournament waters are Catalina Island only! Tournament limit is within 2 miles of the Island, which would include Farnsworth Bank! All other islands as well as the California/Baja coast line are off limits.  More details to come!

• All California Fish & Wildlife regulations and U.S. Coast Guard regulations must be adhered to.

• Largest single fish wins. Only the biggest fish caught by a team will count towards the TOP 3 prize payouts.  Prize money paid for 1st through 3 rd place big fish, and biggest single fish counts in each of the 9 optional jackpots if entered. Eligible fish are white seabass, halibut and yellowtail.

• Only one fish may be weighed per team unless you are entered in the optional jackpots.

• Teams may bring up to one fish per eligible species to the weigh scales (one white seabass, one yellowtail and one halibut), provided they are entered in the optional jackpots.

• It is the team’s sole responsibility to determine their biggest fish.

• Fish are weighed only once.

• Weigh-in is on Saturday, June 18th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 P.M. or until all waiting teams have been logged in at the scale. The weigh in area will be set up on the beach at the Isthmus at Two Harbors.

• All decisions by the tournament director are final, and he has the right to refuse any signups, and the right to disqualify any team for verbal or physical abuse of anyone present, or breaking the rules.

• In the event of a tie, a coin toss by the tournament director will be used to determine the winner.

• All teams who win money are subject to a possible lie detector test after the event, and all monies will be withheld from any affected teams until the results of the test are known.

• All team must sign a waiver, and must be aware that the dangers of fishing in boats are inherent, and that all decisions concerning safety are personal choices. It is up to all teams to adhere to all safety regulations, and to make proper personal choices.


• Check in: Saturday, June 7th – 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.  Registration is available during "Check In", but must be paid by CASH ONLY onsite!  All optionals will be CASH ONLY and all options are only available onsite!

• Tournament start: Saturday, June 8th *6:00 A.M.

• Weigh-In: Sunday, June 9th , 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. and Sunday, June 9th , 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.

• Awards Ceremony & Raffles: Sunday June 9th, *4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.
