AVALON The popular Western Outdoor News Yamaha Catalina Island Jackpot will return to the Isthmus at Two Harbors on Friday, June 12th through Sunday, June 14th 2020.  Our 2019 Yamaha Catalina Jackpot was a huge success and fishing was obviously good, based on all the awesome quality catches that were weighed in by the attending teams.

Based on a 50 boat field, the Yamaha Catalina Jackpot will pay out $10,000 to the Top 3 Biggest Fish caught overall during the 2 days of fishing.A team may weigh up to 3 big fish each day, and only 1 fish from each eligible species will be allowed.


Teams can sign up at now or with CASH ONLY at registration Friday June 12th between 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. on the patio at the Harbor Reef Saloon at Two Harbors. After the Friday registration is complete, those teams that have registered and received their team number, will be allowed to leave at 4:00 A.M. Saturday morning. Each team will come by the pier for a quick inspection before being released to start fishing.

For those who cannot make it across the channel on Friday we will also have an early Saturday (June 13th) morning registration from 7:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at the Two Harbors pier. Once your team has registered on Saturday, morning you’ll be free to go fishing.

The event will be based out of Isthmus Cove at Two Harbors on Catalina Island. Tournament waters will be limited to the 2-mile zone surrounding Catalina only.

The entry fee will be $400 for a minimum of two but up to four anglers, and no more than four people can be aboard any boat entered in the tournament.

The format for the competition is the top 3 largest fish of any eligible species caught during both days are in the money. If a team is only in the basic $400 entry level without any options, those teams may weigh 1 fish of any 3 species for their largest fish each day. Teams that enter options may weigh 1 fish per day in each species optional they have entered. One of those fish would be the teams largest fish for that day. Teams that choose to weigh in on Saturday may also weigh fish in on Sunday. Those teams that choose NOT to weigh fish in on Saturday may only weigh in 1 fish per each species optional entered, including their biggest fish on Sunday. Top 3 Biggest Fish caught will receive pay outs. Largest fish will win $5000, the second largest fish will win $3000, and the third largest fish will win $2000 based on a 50-boat field. The eligible species in the tournament are white seabass, yellowtail and halibut. There will also be optional $100, $200 and $300 cash jackpots available for all 3 species.

Saturday's weigh-in will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the plaza at the base of the Two Harbors Pier.All fish on Saturday must be presented by 7:00 P.M. to be weighed. Sunday weigh-in will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.  All fish on Sunday must be presented by 1:00 P.M. to be weighed.Once we have weighed in all teams, we will start our awards ceremony from 1:00 P.M. until roughly 2:00 P.M.

• Teams are responsible for knowing the tournament schedule and all rules. 

• The team entry fee is $400 with a minimum of two and up to four anglers per team.  All team members must be present for check-in.


• No more than four passengers are allowed on any participating boat. 


  Fishing from kayaks is not allowed.

• All team members must check in, at the Harbor Reef Saloon at the Isthmus at Two Harbors from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 12th to be allowed to launch at 4:00 A.M. Saturday morning.  Those teams that choose to register Saturday morning from 7:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. will be assigned team numbers at the time of registration and once their boat has been inspected, they will be free to go fish.


• Teams with white seabass, yellowtail, or halibut on their boats prior to the tournament must notify tournament staff and those fish will have their fins clipped.

• Fish may not be removed from your boat prior to weigh-in.

• All boats must depart from the Isthmus at Two Harbors to start the tournament. Boats that register on Friday will be released to fish Day 1 at approximately 4:00 AM Saturday.  After a quick inspection at the end of the pier, each team will be released to fish.  Boats that choose not to weigh in on Saturday may stay out all night and are free to fish and travel around the Island.


  Teams that do weigh in on Saturday are free to then leave Two Harbors and travel back to their spots to continue fishing.

• Boats seen leaving early, not properly registering will be disqualified. 

• Tournament waters are Catalina Island only! Tournament limit is within 2 miles of the Island, which would include Farnsworth Bank!

• All California Fish & Wildlife regulations and U.S. Coast Guard regulations must be adhered to.


• Eligible species are white seabass, halibut and yellowtail. 3 Largest single fish win. Only the biggest fish caught by a team will count towards the TOP 3 prize payouts.  Prize money is paid for 1stthrough 3rd place overall largest fish of the two day tournament and biggest single fish by species counts in each of the 9 optional jackpots if entered. The largest fish weighed on Day 1, (Saturday), will receive (4) Accurate Reels and (4) Accurate Rods valued at more than $2,500.


• Only one fish may be weighed per team each day, unless you are entered in the optional jackpots for additional species. 


• Teams may bring up to one fish per eligible species to the weigh scales (one white seabass, one yellowtail and one halibut), provided they are entered in the optional jackpots. 

• It is the team’s sole responsibility to determine their biggest fish.  Fish are weighed only once.  All big fish must be accompanied with a video of that fish being landed.  The video must contain time stamp for verification purposes.

• The weigh in area will be set up in the plaza at the base of the Two Harbors Pier.  Day 1 Weigh-in is on Saturday, June 13th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM or until all waiting teams have been logged in at the scale. Day 2 Weigh-in is Sunday, June 14th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 P.M. or until all waiting teams have been logged in at the scale.


• All decisions by the tournament director are final, and he has the right to refuse any signups, and the right to disqualify any team for verbal or physical abuse of anyone present, or breaking the rules. 

• In the event of a tie, the prize money will be split evenly between the two tying teams.

• All teams who win money are subject to a possible lie detector test after the event, and all monies will be withheld from any affected teams until the results of the test are known.

• All teams must sign a waiver, and must be aware that the dangers of fishing in boats are inherent, and that all decisions concerning safety are personal choices. It is up to all teams to adhere to all safety regulations, and to make proper personal choices.

All teams MUST check in with tournament control by 11:30 AM on Sunday June 14th, either in person or by VHF to verify whether that team will be weighing a fish and or that they are safe and returning home.  The tournament control channel will be announced at both check in times.




$400 per team. Minimum of two and up to four anglers per team.

Teams can register during "Check In" at Two Harbors, but ONLY CASH will be accepted onsite! All options will be CASH ONLY and all optional payments must be made onsite. Optional payments are not available online! 


Saturday, June 13th, 4:00 A.M. (for those that have registered & checked in by Friday night). For those that register on Saturday morning, your team will be able to leave as soon as you have completed registration and a boat inspection has been performed.
