Fishing Equipment Review: New Daiwa Ballistic Spinning Reels

Western Outdoor NewsPublished: Feb 24, 2012

Daiwa Ballistic spinning reels built with corrosion-proof Zaion

New from Daiwa are four Ballistic spinning reels made with lightweight, corrosion-proof Zaion Carbon construction. Daiwa’s lightweight Air Rotor and Air Bail give a light, smooth retrieve and increased sensitivity.

Rivaling magnesium for lightweight strength and rigidity, Zaion Carbon material is impervious to saltwater corrosion, making it an excellent choice for both fresh and saltwater reels.

To handle harsh environments and keep running smoothly, the reel’s rotor bearing is protected by a highly effective, oiled-felt seal between the rotor and body. The drag is sealed, as well. To top it off, Daiwa’s corrosion resistant CRBB ball bearings are used in places where water intrusion most often occurs. With special anti-corrosion treatments, they last up to 10 times as long as ordinary bearings in a saltwater environment.

The size range offered covers most freshwater and light saltwater needs. Sizes 2000 and 2500 are basic freshwater sizes, where sizes 3000 and 4000 give the extra line capacity needed for most inshore saltwater fishing.
