Fishing Equipment Review: Plano Tackle Bags

New Plano SoftSider available in tackle bags

Anglers are accustomed to adapting to changing conditions, and the new Plano SoftSider tackle management system is all about flexibility. The SoftSider family offers two innovative new designs: tackle bags and speedbags.

SoftSider tackle bags are available in three models, all with a characteristic key to easy access: picture a worker’s “lunch box top” that is attached on one side yet overlaps the entire bag when closed. There are no zippers to fumble with… only buckles for easy, one-hand operation and accessibility. The overlapping flap provides ultimate protection for what’s inside.

The largest size is SoftSider model 4473-00. It measures 15 inches long by 8.5 inches wide by 9.75 inches high, and includes two 3700 Series ProLatch StowAway boxes. The medium size, SoftSider model 4463, comes with two 3600 Series ProLatch StowAways stored neatly in its 11-inch by 7.5-inch by 8-inch frame. The smallest SoftSider is model 4453, equipped with two 3500 Series ProLatch StowAways and a fits-most-anywhere measurement of 9.75 inches by 6 inches by 5.75 inches.

All three models are made from durable, weather-resistant nylon with reinforced stitching, and they look stunning in their rust and gray color schemes. Each size has four external pockets that are roomy and easily accessible for carrying everything from maps to pliers to terminal tackle. Additionally, each model has an internal key clip holder and an elastic band organizer. A comfortable carry handle is stitched into the top of all bags, plus there’s an adjustable shoulder strap.
