Fishing Equipment Review: Rapala’s new Rippin’ Rap

Western Outdoor NewsPublished: May 18, 2012

Rapala’s new Rippin’ Rap has a ripload of attitude

Sporting an antagonistic scowl with soul-penetrating eyes, the new Rippin’ Rap from Rapala tears through the water, enticing predators into a fish-fighting battle of epic proportions.

With its tall, thin bodied, lipless design, the Rippin’ Rap cranks, swims and rips its way into the thick, along rock cover, structure and anywhere in between.

Designed for long casting, the Rippin’ Rap features a unique, loud-sounding rattle powered by multiple BBs that pulsate through the water on the retrieve.  The rounded body features a textured scale, gill and detailed fin that are paired with extra large, deep-set 3D holographic eyes that penetrate all water conditions.

The Rippin’ Rap is available in three sizes: 05, 06 and 07 with variable running depths. Size 05 is 2 inches long, weighs 5/16-ounce and is equipped with a No. 8 VMC belly treble hook and No. 10 VMC tail treble hook. Size 06 is 2½ inches long, weighs ½-ounce with a No. 6 VMC belly treble hook and a No. 8 VMC tail treble hook. Size 07 is 2¾ inches long, weighs 7/8-ounce and features a No. 4 VMC belly treble hook and a No. 6 VMC tail treble hook.

Anglers can choose from 12 must-have color patterns including chrome, chrome blue, Chrome Moss Back Shiner, Chartreuse Shad, dark brown crawdad, Firetiger, gold chrome, Helsinki Shad, Olive Green Craw, Pearl Grey Shiner, red crawdad and Yellow Perch.
