SHELTER ISLAND — The sites of the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge will be moved this year, as well as the dates, so mark your calendars for an event that last year raised $160,000 and over the past 10 years has $2 million for children’s wishes. “Silvergate Yacht Club decided this year to remodel their clubhouse,” said Wayne Kotow, chairman of the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge. “We’ve had to scramble to find a new location and we are very excited to have worked out a deal with the Portuguese Hall on Shelter Island to host the event. In order to do this we had to move the date.”The new dates are Aug. 24-26, which moves our tournament up by two weeks to the weekend before Labor Day. The Portuguese Hall is located at 2818 Avenida De Portugal, San Diego, CA 92106. “We are also holding our fishing seminar at West Marine on Rosecrans Boulevard in Shelter Island on Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. and are still finalizing the speakers for the seminar.” Details on the event can be found at www.tunachallenge.org. |
