MORRO BAY — The second annual Morro Bay Central Coast Lingcod Championship is set for July 21, 2018 delivering fantastic opportunities for anglers ready to fight to be WON’s next Ling Cod Champion.

Fishing out of Morro Bay can be exciting and beautiful on any summer day. To be out of the venerable Virg’s Landing, targeting elusive and prized lingcod that grow to huge size in these pristine Central California waters will make the day even better.

Just to make the fight a little more interesting, anglers will head out from Virg’s Landing at an earlier hour than usual, 4 a.m., to be on station and ready to fish at grey light. This year, three boats, theRita G, Fiesta, and the recently added Black Pearl, will be on tap to take anglers to the battleground and bring home the one angler with the prize-winning fish.

Currently the count stands at 592 lingcod this year alone for the landing and the season’s still going strong.

Regulars that fish the Central Coast are always excited to get out and fish with Virg’s. The captains, crew, and boats are all seasoned with a real sense of customer service as one of the most important goals.
