CORONA – The 11th Annual Youth Outdoor Safari Day will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Raahauge’s Shooting Complex in Corona. This will be an all-day event full of great outdoor activities for youngsters, a chance for adults to see how much fun boys and girls can have while enjoying carefully supervised events and the day will be topped off with a free lunch for everyone.
Kids will be able to participate in a wide variety of outdoor recreational venues and be allowed to see just how much there is to do and see while getting involved with nature. The list of fun activities has been expanded for this year’s event and includes an exciting array of fun things and all these experiences will be firsthand. A few of the neat events that will be available for young boys and girls to participate in include: archery, BB gun target shooting, rifle target shooting (22 cal.), firearms safety, kayaking, rock climbing wall, dog handling demonstrations, casting event, Laser Shot, making game calls, painting duck decoys, paintball games, a walk through the SCI Sensory Safari Van and viewing unbelievable shooting exhibitions. Also kids can catch fish, see hawks and falcons close up, talk with modern mountain men and cowboys as well as win outdoor prizes in the kid’s raffle. ![]() Youth Outdoor Safari Day has introduced tens of thousands of youngsters to the fun things there are to do outdoors and all the activities have been sponsored by many fine companies and volunteers over the years. The event has been a success every year and reaches out to those children who want to enjoy outdoor experiences under the supervision of experienced adults. The event is co-sponsored by the Los Angeles and Orange County chapters of Safari Club International, with continued support from Raahauge’s Shooting Complex, Air Soft, Anderson Seafood, Animal Pest Management, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Cobra Kayaks, Coleman, Conklin Foundation, Corona Lake/Santa Ana River Lakes, The Cowboys, Daisy Air Rifles, EZ Up, Farmer John, Federal Ammunition, Henry Repeating Arms, Hollywood Park, Jim Ferry & Associates, Jack Harding & Associates, Laser Shot, Lucky Guy’s Burgers, Red’s Catering, Ovis Grand Slam, Paraordance, Quail Unlimited, Remington Arms Co., Riverside County Parks and Recreation, Riverside Members Council, Rockview Farms, Smith and Wesson, Surefire, Starlight Kennels, Turner’s Outdoorsman, Weatherby Foundation and Sam Mills and Affiliates. “It is a great opportunity to view and participate in a variety of outdoor activities and again this year features a personal appearance from members of various shooting teams,” said Dennis Anderson, chairman of the Youth Outdoor Safari Day. Registration will also be accepted on the day of the event at the door and the fee will be $40 for a family of 5.
