SOUTH CAL Waterfowl Update RANCHO CUCAMONGA ─Professional guide, Ron Gayer and noted author, Durwood Hollis will be presenting a turkey hunting seminar at Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, March 13.Gayer, former hunt coordinator and guide on the Tejon Ranch in California, as well as outfitting and guiding hunters in Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico, is one of the most knowledgeable turkey guides in the state. Hollis, an outdoor writer for the past three decades and author of several published books, including Hunting Upland Game & Waterfowl (Krause Publications, 2003, has been pursing big gobblers for decades. The seminar, presented at the Rancho Cucamonga Bass Pro Shops will cover a wide range of hunting material. Topics include: how-to-beat locate public land turkey areas, calling the big birds, appropriate shotguns and loads, hunting strategy, decoys, calls, field care, home cooking the wild turkey and a lot more. The five-hour presentation will be held in the upstairs seminar room, adjacent to the gun counter room, at Bass Pro. The seminar will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 13th. Cost is $40 at the door or $30 when early registered by telephone with a credit card, per person, with junior hunters free with a paid adult. At the conclusion of the seminar a raffle will be held for many great prizes. Seating is limited and spots are filled first-come, first-served, early registration is encouraged.
