MODESTO — There are a couple 500-ducks-a-year blinds being offered for draw at Modesto Reservoir and there are some good spots at Woodward Reservoir, also up for the annual lottery, but you have to know the good hunting spots. Being able to call, set up your decoy spread and be a good hunter can make the difference between a 200 duck year and a 500 plus duck year. Registration period opened on July 2 and will end on the last Wednesday of the month, July 25. The Waterfowl Registration Period will now officially be from the first business day in July through the last Wednesday of July annually. Here are some key dates and information: — July 25: Last day to turn in your registration for 2012 is Wednesday, July 25, no later than 12:00 p.m. — Aug. 11: The drawing for hunting blinds will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Harvest Hall building located at 3800 Cornucopia Way in Modesto. The county will be conducting the draw indoors this year. — Don’t forget to write the “D” bar code number from your current hunting license for the 2012-2013 hunting season and not the “GO ID” number on your registration cards. You must be present if drawn, and only one entry is allowed per person per reservoir. There are a total of (16) blinds at Woodward Reservoir and (25) blinds at Modesto Reservoir, for a total of 41 blinds. A pre-registration list will be posted online by hunting license number for receipt confirmation. This is to ensure no person registering for the draw has been overlooked. Registration cards must be completed in full, signed, and initialed (no exceptions). Your cards will not be accepted if incomplete! Only original blue or yellow registration cards provided by the Department are accepted. Cards may be mailed to you upon request by calling the main office at (209) 525-6750 or by e-mailing msong@parksrec.org with your mailing address and specific card request. You may also pick the cards up at the Parks and Recreation office, 3800 Cornucopia Way, Suite C, Modesto, CA 95358. Please don’t forget to indicate how many cards you want and for which reservoir. A $45 nonrefundable registration fee must accompany each registration card, payable by cash, personal check, money order, cashier’s check, or credit card (master card and visa accepted); no cash payments are allowed in the mail. If paying by credit card via mail, a credit card authorization form must be completed along with the registration card (attached for your convenience, and is available online). Incomplete registration cards and/or non-payment will not be accepted. Absolutely no registration entries will be accepted after the indicated deadline. It is the registrant’s responsibility to ensure entries are completed in full, paid, and submitted by July 25. No exceptions.
