Other known dates are included, and the Hunt Calendar will be updated as tentative and confirmed dates are announced for California hunters. Western Outdoor News is the only weekly hunting and fishing publication in California, and has been the leader in California outdoors for over 50 years. 2012/13 HUNTING SEASON DATES March 31: Open spring turkey season (bearded birds only). April 4: Close American crow season May 6: Close spring turkey season. May 7: Additional junior and archery-only turkey season opener. May 20: Close junior turkey and archery-only season. May 31: Close of upland game bird hunting clubs. July 1: Opening of general rabbit season statewide for brush, cottontail and pigmy Rabbits, and varying hare (snowshoe), limit 5 per day. Jackrabbit season is open year 'round. July 14: Opening (tentative) A-zone archery deer season South Unit 110 and North Unit 160. July 28: Opening (tentative) B-4 zone archery deer season. Aug. 5: Closing (tentative) A-zone archery deer season South Unit 110 and North Unit 160. Aug. 11: Opening (tentative) of general deer season in A zones South Unit 110 and North unit 160. Aug. 18: Opening (tentative) archery deer zones B-1 through B3, B-5, B-6, D-3 through D-10. Aug. 19: Closing (tentative) B-4 zone archery deer season. Aug. 25: Opening (tentative) general deer season in zone B-4. Sept. 1: Opening dove season statewide. Sept. 1: Opening (tentative) archery deer in zones D-11 through D-19. Sept. 9: Closing (tentative) archery deer zones B-1 through B3, B-5, B-6, D-3 through D-10. Sept. 15: Opening (tentative) general deer season in zones B-1, B-2, B-3, B-5, B-6, C-1 through C-4, D-6, D-7, X-9a, X-9b and X-12. Sept. 22: Opening (tentative) general deer season in zones D-3, D-4, D-5, D-8, D-9, D-10 and X-8. Sept. 23: Closing (tentative) archery deer zones D-11 through D-19, and General deer season A zones South Unit 110 and North Unit 160. Sept. 29: Opening (tentative) general deer season in zone X-10. Sept. 30: Closing (tentative) general deer season in zone B-4 and C-4. Oct. 6: Opening (tentative) archery deer zone D-12, opening (tentative) general deer seasons in zones D-19 and zones X-1 through X7b. Oct. 7: Closing (tentative) general deer season in zone X-8. Oct. 8: Closing (tentative) general deer season in zones X-9a, X-9b and X-12. Oct. 13: Opening (tentative) general deer season zones D-11, D-13, D-14, D-15 and D-17. Oct. 14: Closing (tentative) general deer season in zones B-6, C-1 and X-10. Oct. 20: Opening (tentative) general deer season in zone X9c.
