NORTH CALENDAR: Archery season for the rest of us

WESTERN OUTDOOR NEWSPublished: Jul 29, 2010

Northern CAL Calendar Update

While the earliest archery deer season is closing, the day draws near for hunters in the rest of the state to head afield with their bows and broadheads. Bowhunting has increased in popularity over the years throughout the U.S. Using a bow in California really gives hunters a step up. In some states, hunters must choose between archery gear and a rifle, but here, archery hunters can extend their hunting season. They can hunt with a bow in the archery season, then use a rifle or bow during the later rifle season.

In addition to adding weeks to the hunting season, bowhunting also allows hunters a chance to get out before the bucks get educated. Also, there are many fewer archery hunters, so the field is much less crowded.

For more information on this and other important events, check out this week’s WON Calendar.

Western Outdoor News welcomes calendar items pertaining to hunting, fishing and upcoming events. Send them to P.O. Box 1536, Placerville, CA 95667 or to e-mail address wonnorth@pacbell.net.
