EL SOBRANTE — Most of the action last week at San Pablo Reservoir was on catfish, but some nice bass were also caught, plus a few trout. Audie Banagan of San Pablo Recreation Area said that most people were catching at least a couple of catfish, plus the occasional limit, on mackerel and chicken livers. Scow Canyon and by the dam were two of the better spots. Bass fishing was pretty good, too, on the opposite side of the lake from the Main Rec. Nicolaus Espinola caught several on worms, topped by a 4.5 pounder. Senkos fished wacky-style and swimbaits were attracting bites, as well. Banagan said that a few trout were also caught on broken-back Rapalas in the fire tiger pattern and Rainbow Runners down at 10 to 20 feet in front of Scow Canyon and out near the dam. ![]() REFUGE CATFISH — Carl Stillwell of El Cerrito caught a pair of catfish that weighed 4 pounds and 6 pounds while using anchovies in the Refuge area of San Pablo Reservoir. |
