IONE — Anglers fishing at Lake Camanche for trout caught some real heavyweights last week, as the big trout were on the bite from one end of the lake to the other. Wilma and Ray Gonzalez of Manteca caught a stringer weighing in at 19 pounds, with their largest fish weighing in at 5.65 pounds. They were fishing by the dam using Power Bait. Fred Solari of Bellota caught a 9.75-pound trout measuring 30 inches from the south shore while using a Rapala lure. Ed Noceti of Linden caught a 9.3-pound trout upriver while using a purple Rapala lure.Catfish are biting on mackerel and chicken livers in the coves. Black bass are hitting buzzbaits, ripbaits and topwater lures early in the morning, then plastics once the sun hits the water. The lake is 72 percent full and the water temperature is 71 degrees. |
