LIVERMORE — Trout fishing slowed a bit last week at Lake Del Valle, but some nice catches were still being made for anglers moving to deeper water, and fishing for warmer water species like striped bass, bass and catfish continued to pick up.

“Stripers are being pulled in with anchovies,” Krysty Clark of Lake Del Valle Recreation Area said. “Kastmasters, Rapalas, Senkos, spinner- and crankbaits are pulling bass off their beds. We have seen some nice catfish pulled in also.”

Among the nice catches of trout, Aubrey Watson of San Jose caught two rainbows weighing a total of 7 pounds, 10 ounces on Power Bait in Swallow Bay.

As for striped bass, Swallow Bay and the dam produced the best catches, and anchovies were the best bait. Kenny Khu of Livermore was at it again catching a striped bass weighing 8 pounds, 14 ounces on anchovies at the dam. Baxter Shaffer of Oakland caught an 8.5 pounder on  anchovies in Swallow Bay, Trystyn Clark of Livermore caught an 8 pounder on anchovies in the Upper Narrows, and Jeff Allen of Santa Cruz caught a 14-pound striper at the dam.
