OREGON HOUSE — Collins Lake received 1,800 pounds of trophy trout running 3 to 7 pounds this past week in addition to releasing 2 pens of trout that averaged 2 to 2¼ pounds each, according to Lincoln Young at Collins Lake Resort. This week the resort will release another 3 pens of the 2- to 2¼-pound rainbows. Fishing at Collins Lake is off-the-charts excellent!!
“With the plants made just last week and this week, Collins Lake will receive about 6,800 pounds of rainbow trout,” Young said. “The lake is full and we will be planting fish until the water temp consistently gets into the low 70s, which could be in mid to late May. Fishing for both trollers and shore anglers has been understandably great in light of the heavy planting program.”
Collins Lake Resort reported that the shore fishing remained very steady at the dam and beach for anglers using Power Bait and worms. With the water clarity improving, the area up lake at the bridge was beginning to produce for shore anglers, also. Trollers running Rapalas, flasher/worm combos, and spoons were all catching fish at the dam, the east side, and mid lake in the top 10 feet.
