Shaver Lake fishermen back to trout fishing already!

SHAVER LAKE — Fishermen are catching some very nice trout at Shaver Lake again as the lake level rises and the snowstorms keep the area nice and white. The fishermen had to take a day off Saturday, as the weather hit the area hard.

The latest snowstorm will keep the regular and trophy-sized trout from being planted for a couple weeks, but a good portion of the regular size trout plantings have already taken place. There have been some very nice-sized trout caught that have already made a trip to the skillet.

Bank anglers have reported catching some 14- to 16-inch trout before the latest snowstorm. Fishing from the bank with bait has been the best bet from around road 1 and 2. Power Bait, Pautzke eggs and Gulp! are some of the best baits to use, according to the successful anglers.
