WONews READER REPORTS
Reader Report by Ben Whitwell, Los Angeles
My son Isaac and I went to Raahauge’s Pheasant Club Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012. We hunted with guide Jim Buchanan and his terrific dog Ranger. Isaac and I had a fantastic time. Both Jim and Ranger were amazing. We ended up with 3 pheasant, 4 chucker and a cottontail rabbit. Isaac asked me to submit this report and photo in the hope that it might get published in WON. Thanks for your great newspaper, which I have been reading since about 1970.

Fishing at Quarry Lakes was good this weekend, lots of reports of big rainbows coming out of here. My father in-law, Rodney Petty of San Jose, caught this nice 7-pound 11-ounce rainbow on shore with Power Bait.

My fishing buddy and I went sturgeon fishing on Wed, Jan. 25 . Got lucky and hooked up two fish. They were 55 inches and 65 inches. It was my buddy’s first legal fish. Both fish came from deep water channel Rio Vista.

Hey guys, my 6 year old daughter, Paige Moritz, asked to go lobster fishing with me. We went out for two hours on our boat and caught 14 lobsters. These two were her biggest lobsters of the night. I got her a lobster report card with her name on it. No goose eggs for her first trip! My friend Mark Couglar came with us to help us haul in the bugs. I told her I would submit her photo so she might be able to see herself in "Dads fish newspaper."

On Jan. 30 I took Tiffany Taylor, a kindergargen teacher on Camp Pendleton, to Lake Skinner where she got her first striper ever. And she got it on the fly!

Reader Report by Tim Obert, Santa Cruz
I've been a long time reader of Western Outdoor News and have always wanted to be in it. Well, on Jan. 29 I think I got a fish worthy, while fishing the middle fork of the Smith River. Me and some buddy's hooked over 40 fish from the bank and landed 24, one being this monster steel head. This fish was 36" in length and had a 21" girth. It was estimated in the low 20-pound class. I caught the fish on Mad River artificial egg with a little roe on 12-pound test.
