WONews READER REPORTS Reader Report by Steve Moss, Dana Point ![]() Steve Moss, far right, went on a hunt to Raahauges with his son, Charlie, far left, and daughter Rachel and they had a great pheasant hunt, as seen by the birds lined up on the wall. Reader Report by Steve Simon, Paso Robles ![]() While fishing the Upper Kern River on March 29 & 30 I caught these beautiful fish using a Shamano Ultralight Outfit, on 4-pound line and 2-pound leader, using salmon eggs and a single #12 hook. I battled each fish for around 15 minutes in a semi-powerful current. The trout net was too small to contain the fish, so I had to land the fish by hand, but sticking my finger in the gilplate and pulling them out of the water. The two fish I’m holding weigh 6 pounds, 2 ounces, and 8 pounds even. The single fish is the 8 pounder, using a hand scale. I’ve fished the Upper Kern River for over 30 years and never caught fish like this! During this trip I caught a total of 4 fish over 5 pounds. The fish were caught between Fairview Campground and the Johnsondale Bridge. |
