San Diego angling club enjoys a great bite on the big bass

MAZATLAN — We had a fantastic trip to Anglers Inn, El Salto! I think our group with San Diego Anglers had 18 guys and caught and released thousands of fish over the six days of fishing.

Big fish went to Ryan "Booger" Bostian from the ¾-day boat San Diego with a 9.8 pounder. I think everyone got a fish 8 pounds or bigger. Deep diving crankbaits were the ticket this time with watermelon/red flake Senkos and lizards a close second.

I think the best fishing went to Steve Peterson from the Mission Belle and Greg Tanji from the Royal Star fishing in the same boat. They found an underwater hilltop and absolutely killed the big fish on deep diving crank baits like the Bomber Fat Free Shad. In a day and a half of fishing there, they probably caught and released over 50 fish over 6 pounds plus all the 3-5-pound "runts" that you want !

And, as usual, the service and food were fantastic as was the flights to and from on Volaris out of TJ. They have a 6 a.m. departure flight from T.J. to Culican which has you at the resort by 10:30 and fishing after lunch. The return flight is a 7:30 p.m. departure out of Culican which allows you to fish a ½-day in the morning without rushing to get ready to get out of there. Lots of fun!

Attached is a photo of an 8 pounder I caught on a Rapala DT10. We are heading back in May we had so much fun!
