I have been staying in the June Lake Loop since Friday, May 24, 2019. Mornings in the 30s and intermittent snow and rain have seemed to keep many anglers away. A few fish caught at Grant Lake in the narrows on nightcrawler. Fished near the accessibility platform at Convict Lake and landed a 3-pound rainbow, also on a nightcrawler. Few boats on June/Gull this week so far. Overall, the least people I have seen on a holiday weekend and the fishing bite has been light but not completely dead.

This was my first halibut. I landed it Friday, May 24, 2019. I was on a 9 foot kayak fishing in Anaheim Bay at the Pacific Coast Highway bridge at Sunset Beach. I used ¼-ounce Chovy hookup bait. My reel was a Shimano Stradic 2500 fg on a Phenix recon lite rod with 12-pound braid on 12 fluorocarbon. The halibut was approximately 30 inches long. I did not have a scale or measuring board with me.

Went fishing with my 22 year old son Spencer Bauman and Eric Sanden of Cal-Angler Guide Service, Friday, April 26, 2019 at Diamond Valley Lake. Spencer caught this 7.4-pound largemouth bass on 6-pound test using a 3-inch Senko while working the north shore. Spencer and I are new at bass fishing and this is Spencer’s personal best for all freshwater fishing.
