SOCAL SALTWATER EVENTS: Dana Wharf Sportfishing’s1st Annual Kids Fishing Summer Camp hits big

READER REPORT BY MONIQUE BERRY Published: Aug 20, 2009

Dana Wharf Sportfishing takes pride in getting involved with the community and providing a safe exciting experience for kids to learn and enjoy the sport of fishing.  This summer Dana Wharf Sportfishing started their 1st Annual  Kids Fishing Summer Camp. The camp was five days starting on August 10 through August 14, 2009. Each day included instruction on how to tie knots, baiting a hook, casting, and much more.  On the first Day the first legal fish was a 15lb Halibut caught by Jack Raffo, from Laguna Beach.  As the week went on the group caught many Calico Bass, Sand Bass, Barracuda, and many other different species.  The only 2 Sheephead of the week were caught by Karl Von Schimpf, of Laguna Beach.

Nathan Chow from Irvine was our Jack Pot Winner with a Calico Bass, and he won 1 adult ticket and 1 kid ticket on our September 20th Kids Fishing Tournament.

This group of young men were fantastic fisherman and developed friendships and memories that will last forever.   Dana Wharf Sportfishing looks forward to giving kids the opportunity to fish with their friends, and to catch a BIG ONE!

Thank you
