APPLE VALLEY — Numbers of rainbows and quality fish were the rule at the Jess Ranch Lakes this past week, as a parade of trout to 10.4 pounds made their way to the scale.
Big catch of the week went to Colton Angler Angela Reyes, who landed a 10.4 pounder while soaking Salmon Peach PowerBait from the grassy point of Lake 3.
Twelve-year-old Jacob Gorman reeled in a 7.9 pounder using garlic PowerBait at the same locale. Chuck Moree of San Bernardino fished the eastern shore of Lake 3 with rainbow PowerBait for a 6.6-pound trout. Victorville angler, Richard Villa, had a 6.4 pounder on spring green PowerBait fished from the eastern shore of Lake 3. Jason Ocull of Phelan managed a 5 pounder on natural cheese PowerBait at the same spot. Don Hesch of Moreno Valley landed a 4.6-pound rainbow on spring green PowerBait from the northern shore of Lake 2, and Rolando Sanchez of Riverside bagged a 4.1-pound fish using rainbow PowerBait at the north shore of Lake 2.
“Trout action was good this past week,” said lakes’ staffer Theresa Llao, “with anglers using PowerBait (spring green, rainbow, Salmon Peach and garlic), nightcrawlers dipped in garlic, lures and jigs to catch fish. Hot spots included the eastern logged shore and grassy point of Lake 3, as well as the northern and southwestern shores of Lake 2.
“Catfish up to 5 pounds were caught on shrimp and mackerel from the western and eastern shore of Lake 2.”
ANGELA REYES of Colton earned big-fish honors this past week at Jess Ranch Lakes with this 10.4-pound rainbow trout.
