EL SOBRANTE — Anglers fishing for trout at San Pablo Reservoir should be able to find plenty of fish during the Memorial Day Weekend, as more than 3,000 pounds were planted last week.

Mt. Lassen Trout Farms planted 1,200 pounds of rainbows last Monday at the marina. DFW then planted 1,000 pounds on Tuesday and another 1,000 pounds on Friday at the boat launch.

familyfishFAMILY FISH — Kendall Estrada of Vacaville caught 4 rainbows using yellow Power Eggs at The Pines at San Pablo Reservoir on April 26, accompanied by someone who we can only conclude is his daughter, with no name given. But she obviously enjoyed the trip.

Anglers got into limits last week, both from boats and from shore. “We got another great report from James Stoker,” said Marcie Shoemaker of San Pablo Reservoir Recreation Area. “James caught his limit of trout, which included three Mt. Lassen and 2 DFW. He also caught and released three spotted bass. Two were on the troll and one with a lure from shore. The trout were caught again on very long casts, one with a Mice Tail and one with a nightcrawler and three with Power Bait.”

Some trout are being caught near Sandy Point.

The water temperature was 63.8 degrees on Sunday, a good temperature for trout fishing. The lake level is 309.8 feet.
