THE WINNERS OF the event with $1,720 in prize money for 9.67 pounds were Ty Ponder and Todd Klein.

Boundaries allowed to fish this event would include all legal areas of L.A. Harbor, Long Beach Harbor, Alamitos Bay and Huntington Harbor. Start time for the Bay events are 5 a.m. until 3 p.m., giving the competing teams 10 hours to come up with five 14-inch or larger bass.

As the horn sounded for the take off, most teams went north to fish L.A. and L.B. Harbor areas with most all of the rest staying in Alamitos Bay to start their tournament day. One team decided to run down the beach to Huntington Harbor in hopes of putting a nice limit together. That team happened to win the event with an impressive bag of feisty spotties. Half of the field weighed at least one 2 plus-pound bass bass, showing the potential for great weights for this Long Beach event.

First place with 9.67 were Ty Ponder and Todd Kline. These two anglers fish A-Rigs throughout the day, culling a fish here and there to finish up with their winning weight.

Other prizes will be raffled out, like a trip for two to Cedros Outdoor Adventures, a Motorguide Great White trolling motor, an annual service for the highest placing team running a Mercury motor from Quality Performance Marine, a trailer service from West Coast Trailers and a table full of sponsor product!
